Education System:

The school follows the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum.

The languages offered are English as first language and Hindi, Tamil as Second Language and Hindi & Tamil as Third Language. Tamil is compulsory from Class I. The Pre – primary section follows its own curriculum developed based on a balanced approach of Montessori and Kindergarten methods.

The Curriculum for Primary, Middle and Seconday School is framed based on the norms set by the CBSE. It constitutes a total teaching - learning programme comprising overall aims, syllabus, materials, methods and assessment. It provides a framework of knowledge and capabilities seen as appropriate to a particular level. Evaluation under the scheme not only measures the

progress and achievement of the learners but also the effectiveness of the teaching materials and methods used for transaction. It is towards this end that the CBSE revolutionised the pattern of evaluation by introducing Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE). It covers all aspects of a student’s development. Its objectives are continuity in evaluation and assessment of broad based learning and behavioural outcomes.

This is achieved through formative and summative tests and covers both Scholastic and Co-scholastic aspects of a child’s growth. The curriculum at St. John’s Universal School strictly adheres to the goals set by the Board in the selection of teaching, learning process and the pattern of evaluation. Thus learning becomes a joyous experience for every student aimed at making him a complete student.

Learning Space:

The school has excellent infrastructure with facilities in vogue to take care of all safety measures and requirements for a comfortable schooling experience for the children.

Indoor Games facilities are provided. The school is working towards making it environment friendly by providing well ventilated class rooms. The Administrative block is aesthetically built with a well designed Parent’s Lobby – a place for a better interaction. All classrooms are specially designed to be spacious.

The Pre – Primary Level (PRE-KG, LKG, UKG)

• Learning is made interesting, fun and activity oriented.
• Students are encouraged in drawing, colouring, painting, writing.
• Group Games, Clay modelling, Puzzles, Flash Cards, White Sheets, Self – expression and Show & Tell related workshops are conducted.
• Poems and stories are dramatized.
• Focus is on developing Communication Skills.
• Children would be taken to Nature walks and Educational Tour to develop a sense of openness towards the world.

Primary Level to High School (Class I to Class X)

• A thematic approach is designed to stimulate the children through various active sessions and activities.
• Emphasis is laid on developing a strong sense of individuality.
• Field trips to places of importance are arranged.
• Use of newspaper articles, quizzes and other learning tools are utilized to enhance general awareness.
